F.A.Q.s

No, special needs therapists work with children across a wide spectrum of disabilities, from mild learning challenges to more severe conditions. They tailor their approach based on the child’s specific needs, helping with developmental delays, behavioral issues, learning disabilities, or social communication challenges.

Yes, special needs therapy can still be effective for older children. Early intervention is often ideal, but children can continue to make progress at any age. The therapy may be adjusted to better suit their developmental stage, and significant improvements in skills like communication, socialisation, and behaviour can still occur.

No, different special needs therapists may use various methods depending on their expertise and the specific needs of the child. Some may use approaches like speech therapy, occupational therapy, or sensory integration therapy. Each child’s therapy plan is individualised for the best possible outcome.

While the cost of special needs therapy can vary, we provide the option of small group therapy or the student going to the therapist instead to reduce cost.

Special needs children may not “outgrow” their conditions, but therapy can help them develop skills to manage challenges and improve their quality of life. With appropriate interventions, many children learn strategies that allow them to lead independent or semi-independent lives, but the need for ongoing support can vary depending on the individual.

No, special needs therapists work alongside teachers to provide specialized support. While teachers focus on academics, therapists address specific developmental or behavioral challenges that might affect a child’s ability to learn. The combination of both is essential for a child’s overall development.

Therapy for children with special needs often requires time and consistency. It’s common for progress to be gradual, with noticeable improvements occurring over weeks, months, or even years. Patience and ongoing collaboration between therapists, parents and school teachers are key to long-term success.

In many cases, therapy can begin without a formal diagnosis if parents or teachers observe developmental delays or challenges. However, a formal diagnosis by an educational psychologist can help guide the therapy plan and ensure that the child receives the most appropriate interventions.

While we provide a range of rates based on the tutor’s qualifications and experience, our therapists usually set their own rates. We have our guidelines listed at the bottom of Our Team page, but the final pricing is often negotiable between the client and the therapist.

No, the hourly rate can vary depending on the therapy required. Therapies that require specialised knowledge, such as speech and language, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and educational therapy may command higher rates. The therapist’s experience and qualifications also play a role in determining rates.

Tutoring agencies typically charge a commission fee to cover administrative costs, therapists vetting, matching, and other services like customer support. This commission is often a percentage of the therapist’s rate, which is usually half of the first month’s fee.

We would like to reassure you that there are no hidden charges or registration fees for placing a therapist with you. Our pricing structure is straightforward and designed to be transparent.

Payment for the First Two Weeks:

  • The only cost involved is for the first two weeks of the first month’s lessons.
  • For example, if the intervention requires twice a week, the amount payable will be based on the first 4 sessions.
  • If the intervention requires once a week, the fee will be calculated based on the first 2 sessions.

After the initial two-week period, subsequent payments will be made directly to the therapist as agreed, based on the frequency of the sessions.

We would like to inform you of our payment procedure to ensure a smooth and transparent experience for both you and our therapists.

Payment for the First Session:

  • Payment for the first lesson will be required before the session commences. This can be made via PayNow to UEN 53484170L, Special Needs Tutoring or bank transfer to our company. This policy is in place to safeguard both the therapist and Special Needs Tutoring in the event of last-minute cancellations.

Payment for Subsequent Sessions:

  • After the first two weeks, a second payment will be issued to cover the remaining sessions.
  • From the third week onwards, payments will be made directly to the therapist either weekly or monthly, based on the arrangement made between you and the therapist.

This payment structure is designed to ensure consistency and protect both parties. If you have any questions regarding the payment process, please feel free to reach out to us.

At Special Needs Tutoring, we are committed to providing the best possible care and service to both our clients and therapists. We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of our policies regarding the notification of changes, cancellations, and postponements of classes.

Client Responsibility:

  • Clients are required to notify Special Needs Tutoring of any changes, postponements, or cancellations within the first two weeks of sessions. After the two-week period, the client will need to liaise directly with the therapist.
  • For any postponements, we kindly ask that clients inform Special Needs Tutoring at least three hours prior to the start of the session. If less than three hours’ notice is given, the therapist has the right to claim for the wasted time and transport costs, which will not exceed the intervention fee for one class.

Commission Policy:

  • The commission amount remains unchanged, even in cases of cancellations or postponements.

Therapist Responsibility:

  • We highly value our therapists and the positive impact they have on our clients. However, it is essential that all scheduled appointments are adhered to. A no-show without prior notice is disruptive to both our clients and the overall schedule.
  • Please be aware that if a no-show occurs without proper notification, we may need to consider discontinuing the professional relationship, as reliability and punctuality are key to the smooth operation of our services.

We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of both our clients and therapists in this matter. If you ever encounter challenges with your schedule, please do not hesitate to inform us as soon as possible so we can work together to accommodate any necessary changes.

Thank you for choosing Special Needs Tutoring for your child’s needs. We always strive to ensure that the right match is made between our clients and therapists. While we encourage long term partnership with our therapists, we do understand that sometimes it might not be a good fit. We will be happy to arrange an immediate change of therapist for you at no additional cost. However, lessons conducted with the previous therapist will still need to be paid for.

Your satisfaction is our priority, and we are here to ensure that you and your child have the most effective and comfortable learning experience possible. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or would like to discuss further.
